Steve Rowe

Candidate for Governor and Former Attorney General

Bio:
Steve Rowe served as Maine’s Attorney General from 2001 through 2008 and recently announced his candidacy for Governor.

Prior to his role as the state’s chief law enforcement officer, Mr. Rowe served as Speaker of the Maine House of Representatives, and as chair of various legislative committees including Natural Resources and Business and Economic Development. Rowe’s career in public office has been marked by numerous public policy achievements, including establishing the Fund for a Healthy Maine; passing a $50 million Land for Maine’s Future bond; helping craft the landmark Maine Rx law (which survived Supreme Court scrutiny); leading a national effort to stop alcohol marketing to youth, and raising awareness about the importance of quality early childhood development. Currently, Steve is serving as Counsel for Verrill Dana, LLP out of Portland.

Mr. Rowe is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. He earned his MBA from the University of Utah and his law degree from the University of Maine. Before entering government, Rowe worked in both the legal and business departments of UNUM.
